New construction of a children's aftercare clinic with 57 primary patient beds, a further 120 secondary places as well as various offices and treatment rooms, sports and swimming pool in 15344 Strausberg, Amselweg – Jenseits des Sees.
gbc engineers was commissioned for the structural design LP2-LP5. This includes the preliminary planning/object preparation, the development of the structural solution, the preparation of static calculations as part of the implementation planning and the preparation of the formwork and reinforcement plans.
The Berlin Brandenburg Children's Aftercare Clinic, a medically oriented rehabilitation facility aimed at families for 57 children and adolescents as primary patients and their accompanying persons as so-called secondary patients, is to be given a new location in Strausberg. The location was determined after a detailed analysis of a total of eight alternative locations in the state of Brandenburg.
The plot of land selected for development in the forest and on the western shore of the Straußsee offers a view of the old town silhouette of Strausberg from a high plateau level above the level of the lake's water surface. The location on the water and in connection with the forest area surrounding the site and the access via Amselweg as a road without through traffic will increase the attractiveness of the future clinic location as a rehabilitation centre.
The building mass of the planned building is strongly structured. The accommodation area is planned as a three-storey building with three storey levels staggered to the outside. All other buildings are single-storey. The sports hall and swimming pool have a higher ceiling height due to functional requirements. The grouping and arrangement of the buildings on the property is due to the rehabilitation process concept. The structure of the overall structural complex corresponds to the content requirements of a children's aftercare clinic with corresponding therapeutic rehabilitation.
The three-storey accommodation area for the accommodation of primary patients and their accompanying persons, which does not have a basement, is divided into five legible building sections, which are arranged in a U-shape to each other.
The single-storey therapy area, located in the inner courtyard of the accommodation area, has various therapy rooms grouped around a glazed lounge area in the middle of the building.
The main entrance area, with a generous entrance roof up to the vestibule, represents the beginning of the entrance area of the aftercare clinic and the first impression. Structurally, the main entrance is in the form of two single-storey building sections with a basement, each with a monopitch roof covering in two individual structural wings, the north and south wings, as well as the continuation to the actual centre area in the form of a glazed corridor area and the corridor area to the north and south pavilions, which is also glazed.
